If you’re considering renting a Mopod cabin but need a bit of financial help to make it happen, you may be eligible for support from Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ). Whether you need extra space for family, temporary housing, or a home office, this guide will walk you through the easy steps to apply for WINZ assistance.
✅ Who Can Get Help?
WINZ provides financial support to New Zealanders who meet certain income or hardship criteria. If you think you might qualify, it’s worth applying!
🛠️ Step-by-Step: How to Apply for WINZ Support for Your Mopod Cabin
Step 1: Contact Mopod for a Quote
Start by getting in touch with us at Mopod. We’ll ask a few simple questions:
- What kind of cabin do you need?
- How long do you need it for?
- Where will it be delivered?
From there, we’ll prepare a formal quote that outlines the supply and delivery costs — this is essential for your WINZ application.
📩 Need a quote? Just give us a call or email, and we’ll sort it for you quickly.
Step 2: Get Permission from Your Landlord or Property Owner
If you’re renting or don’t own the land where the cabin will go, you’ll need written permission from the property owner. WINZ may ask for this as part of your application.
Step 3: Book an Appointment with WINZ
Once you’ve got your quote and landlord approval (if needed), it’s time to contact WINZ.
You can book your appointment by:
- Calling 0800 559 009
- Visiting www.workandincome.govt.nz
- Or heading into your local WINZ office
Step 4: Gather Your Documents
WINZ will need some paperwork to assess your application. Be sure to bring:
- Your Mopod quote
- Proof of income and expenses (e.g. payslips, benefit info)
- Proof of permission from your landlord or property owner
- ID (passport, driver’s licence or birth certificate)
- Any other documents your case manager requests
📂 Tip: It helps to keep everything organised and ready before your appointment.
Step 5: Attend Your Appointment
At your WINZ appointment, explain that you’re applying for support to rent a cabin from Mopod. Show them the documents you’ve prepared.
The case manager will review your situation and let you know if you’re eligible for assistance — this could cover part or all of the cabin rental cost.
Step 6: WINZ Approval and Payment
If your application is approved, WINZ may pay Mopod directly or provide the funds to you. If there are any delays or questions, it’s okay to follow up with your case manager for updates.
Step 7: Finalise Your Booking with Mopod
Once WINZ confirms everything, just give us a call to lock in your booking. We’ll get your cabin delivered and set up as soon as possible.
